Hop into the barber chair! Spotted this poor example of felling technique in a local park.

Must of given the cutter a fright. What did he expect with no face cut??

That must of been one of those pro goverment workers that did that nice job.:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Assuming the sawyer's body isn't immediately out of the frame to the right, with his bar buried in his forehead, yes, I belive he must have had quite a fright!

Looks like a snap cut, there appears to be a cut above the backcut, trees don't chair like this from just a backcut.

Pardon me but as far as I know a true "chair" is when it splits out below the cut as well, that's why it's a climber's nightmare. It can either decapitate or squeeze you to death. Is it still a "chair" if it does not split out below the cut as well?

I was thinking the same thing.......

WTF? Backcut way below the undercut? Just what did he expect to happen. Not to mention the sloping backcut.

I fell a problem tree yesterday. Leaner (not too bad), possible danger of BC so I chained it. Barely got in the bars width on the back cut when it tried. That 'Crack' (sounded like a gun shot) shook me even expecting it.

what undercut? i don't see an undercut on ths....the sticker coming up off the stump was not cut...it broke as the tree started to bust. someone just walked up to this layed the saw into the back of the tree:crazy1:

Hey, he just didn't want to get his feet wet...........................nice.

:dizzy:

My first thought exactly, probably didn't want to get his new Nikes muddy,
looks as if it was a silver maple too, straight grain, those trees like to split bad enough as it is :jawdrop:

I have seen people try to cut trees with just one cut on an angle like this many times. I think they teach each other this stupidity because I see it a lot even in the woods.

I've seen this stupidity alot around here too. Not sure what the reasoning is behind it. I also don't understand the "cut halfway through on the face and then go up about a foot on the backside and cut at a 45* towards the face cut" method. I guess I ain't that bright. :)
