I don't know if anyone else has seen this problem, but I though I'd mention it anyway. A while ago I noticed the big'un had lost the characteristic "111 wheeze" when it cooled down, and that it was leaking gas. So I took the breather valve off and found the check ball was gone! The crimps in the breather body were too shallow to keep the ball in. I fished the ball out of the tank, so It's back together with some serious crimps now.

The Swedes seem to have not put much muscle into hammering the crimping punch. Maybe the same one who left a piston ring out of mine

Just seemed like the kind of thing to check next time you have a saw apart.

I have that '111 characteristic wheeze' when I cool down, too. And every morning till after my first cigarette with coffee.:p

Ah, yes- the wheeze- you've got me all misty eyed now, think I'll go out and listen to the 111S sit on the bench.
