what all have you guys done to improve your work trucks? i have a 03' f-350 super duty that i have increased the plate steel in the bottom of the bed. added taller side boards also. my main point though is to ask anyones opinion on helper springs for the truck. I have viewed several "air bags" and think this is what i will get. I have found one company called timbren that makes these and most will handle up to 5000# on top of your current leaf springs. anyone have any advice or recomendations? thanks logan

I used to work at a company that made the truck service bodies for Amerigas and other propane company trucks. They always added the Timbren bags to the service bodies. Those trucks left the shop overloaded with just a bed on it, yet alone a 500 gallon propane tank. But they seemed to work okay, I don't remember anyone having to replace them. My buddy has a set of air bags on his duramax, it has a pressure gauge in the cab and is also adjustable from the cab, He said he really likes his.

Air bags all the way. If your thinking about helper springs, adding leafs etc. you can probably have the air bags installed almost a quick. I had a set on two trucks. The one simply had air lines going to the back by the licence plate with air chucks to add air/let air out. The other had it's own pump and you could set the air pressure from in the cab. Definetly worth the money.

I have the timbren they are not quite air bags there is no adjustment just a solid piece of rubber. I love them though. I don't tow everyday but when I do it is usually big. These work great as there is no moving parts or lines to go wrong. They help a ton as far as squat and sway. If I was going to be towing everyday and different load defently the in cab adjustable ones. If I was going to be towing similar loads and wanted some adjustment just no the on the fly adjust ment the standarad airbags are the way to go as well as cheaper.
Just my opinion.

I been thinking of adding a plasma screen tv, air conditioning and a pull out bed to my man cab on my 98 international chip truck. I figure it would give me somewhere cozy to sack or watch a movie while the ground guys clean up my mess. I guess I would want some sound proofing in there as well.

It looks to me like tire issues would come next.

Not if you are running the correct tires for the load you are hauling. I run load range E tires which give me a little over 3000lbs of towing on the tires. Truck builders any more are labeling the heavy duty ones as such but are building them more like a a red rider wagon.
