am stumped on how to adjust points on this saw 032av stihl. i know the correct setting for the points (.015 to .017), but cant see how to adjust them when the fly wheel is on. theres no holes or anything. the flywheel has a ring that fits in a double wall built in the crank case to keep the dirt out. so theres no access to the points, when the flywheels on,that i can see .
any body got any ideas thank:dizzy: s dewbug111

I think Stihl has a special tool for that.It was in fact a cam only that you install on the crankshaft to adjust the points because on those models the cam is within the flywheel.

points

There is a tming mark on the case and the flywheel. Use a needle type ohm meter to tell when the points open. The setting is correct when the opening and the marks are the same.

Another ohm meter method

This is the slow method. I have had to use this on 2 stroke's that came without anything like instructions.

Use a dial gauge to determine exact top dead center. Mark it.
What you want is maybe just a touch of advance. Now use the ohm meter to show when the points just open. Keep adjusting until in normal rotation that they open just a touch before your TDC mark. You really can't set in much advance as the magneto is generating the power at almost the same time it fires the plug. Good luck.
