hi folks,

For the last several years many of my old fir trees have been under attack by beetles. I've had arborists come and try treating with Onyx spray. I've cleared out old brush. Now I'm trying MCH yearly to repel the beetles.

I'm not sure how effective this is going to be. Besides losing the trees that I really love, it will be extraordinarily costly to remove these trees. Many stand at 130'+ tall.

Are there any advanced treatment options that anyone has tried for situations like this? Even costly ones?
Just brainstorming but wondering if any of these ideas would work:

1) Obtain a fine mesh net to wrap around the tree trunks up to ~20' to protect the base of the trees.
2) Apply a protectant spray around the trunk.
3) Find some natural enemy of DFB (if there are any) and see if they can exterminate these pests.

Any/all ideas are very much appreciated.
