I have been burning in an older cast iron woodstove for several years with great success. Burning almost 100% good seasoned oak. The inside of the stove stays clean, the brick chimney is almost spotless.
This year I have switched to an Add-A-Furnace by Monarch and already I have noticed a small build up inside the stove.... I haven't looked inside the chimney since I started burning this year. This stove is to be my main heating method. I do have an LP backup, but have not turned it on yet..
I cut all my own firewood, and this oak was cut and split almost two years ago. We have been cutting all the standing dead timber in a friends pasture, so I don't think it is wet wood.
If anyone has had any experience with one of these stoves, or anyone may know what might be going on. Please let me know...
Hasn't been very cold yet, I'm hoping the build up is from choking the stove down too much trying not to get the house to 85 degrees again.
Any ideas?
Thanks Chuck
