My friends gave me a six pack of Stihl oil and a $50 gift card from the not so famous saw shop. They said the shop had nothing pink or purple in it, and they expected to see me out at their place using up the oil.

I'm trying to think of stuff to get. Suggestions?

I remember those. I think they might have been "seconds" -- I seem to recall them living in the bargain bin.

Something in pink?

One of our guys made a heck of a buy on some off-brand orange tree marking paint. They practically gave it away. Great stuff, real bright color and it went on nicely.

So, of course, every truck driver we had started "liberating" a can or two for their own use. Axe handles, binders, winch bars, the end of the trailer reach, everything was a very vibrant shade of bright orange. Until the sun hit it directly for a couple of days, anyway.

I've never seen paint fade so fast. And I've never seen quite the exact shade of pink that it faded to. One of the scalers suggested that anybody who had bright pink rigging on their logging truck probably walked funny and might be prone to wearing lace underwear. Scalers can say things like that and get away with it. Actually, quite a few people commented on all the bright pink logging gear...and how sweet and cute it looked. There was a mad rush to the truck shop for any kind of paint available that would cover the pink. Some of the guys even drug their rigging behind the truck on the haul road and let the sand and gravel clean off the paint.

The only driver that didn't immediately repaint everything was a female. She thought it was kinda classy. And, like she said, nobody ever stole any rigging off her truck.
