I have only seen the kits that had black boots so that's what I have coming. I don't mess with these much and was wondering if there was a certain aftermarket part with a good rep.

Seems the OEM were not all that great so I guess maybe these will be as good.

I know when this one failed it was weird, I never had a ign act like that. I swore it was a fuel issue. I like it when a ign just fails completely, makes it much easier.

So I got the AM ignition today and put the module and the coil on the 266. It wouldn't run. Start, sputter, speed up and die.

Took the coil off my Jred 630 put it on the 266 and it run perfect. Put the new coil on the 630 and it won't run.

Just my luck if there is one bad one out of 1000 thats the one I would get.

So what you need is the coil I take it? The AM module is working fine......usually the module fails more frequently but not always.

I'll have a look see when I get over to the shop later.....if I have one you're welcome to it.....it would be used OEM....price is right.....you already paid for it actually!!! LOL!!

Thanks Robin, your the best.. Lets hang on a bit and see what happens..

I wasn't asking that guy for a coil, but mostly responding to his comments that didn't pertain to the question I asked when starting the thread.

Myself and most others know the AM is sketchy to say the least. But It is available and for the most part useable.

Yeah I haven't been able to generate much faith in AM electrics myself. Hit or miss.... But the prices are way less than OEM and of course these igns are NLA OEM unless you stumble on NOS....then you'll really pay!!!

Tell us something we don't already know. You got a good OEM coil to send me? And at a fair price?

Or can you tell of any aftermarket parts better then the others?

If not thanks for the advice that didn't help at all.
I have tried aftermarket parts on multiple items and it is crap shoot because they either work or don't. I can say ignition coils and carburetors have been the worst of the two.

Geeze, you quoted my post but evidently you didn't understand any of it. Most everyone knows AM parts can be a crapshoot. The point of the thread that I started was to ask what options were out there for the early Husky 2 piece igns.

And so far as I suspected there isn't much of a choice. I didn't start it to be told what your trying to tell me which seems to be all AM are crap. That's not all true either.

Can you upgrade to a newer one piece ignition if the flywheel is changed with it? Just got a 61 and the top end looks good, no spark.

Not really.......the shape of the case location where the coil bolts on the late one piece saws is totally different from the same place the module bolts on the early saws. Meaning they totally changed the flwheel side case half for the one piece ign....top cover won't even interchange.

I suspected as much.
