Some of you may know I need a coil for an 009L saw... In an ancient thread, some members recommended Baileys, but I chose eBay (and I'm glad I did)

I didn't want to risk a $60 purchase plus $30 shipping on something that didn't "look" right.

***I'm not 100% sure which saws this coil is not compatible with but definitely 009-011 Stihls****

My coil is exactly the same as the one linked above and here are my findings:

You can see where the fuel filler cap is and the threaded hole 1/2" down. To the right of that threaded hole butted up against the housing you can see the coil and that is where the ignition wire screws into the coil. As you can see there is zero room and it's not physically possible to attach the plug lead.

The eBay seller I purchased this coil from does not list it as fitting the 009, but I figured I'd take a chance since Bailey's says it will fit without an issue (even in their Q&A). I bought other stuff I needed besides the coil in a packaged deal for my MS250 so it wasn't a complete waste and this coil WILL fit the MS250.

Glad I didn't drop a dime at Baileys and hopefully this will save someone a headache in the future, I'll try shooting them an email asking them to update their listings.

Yes, something is wrong with the Baileys' advertizement, you should contact them about it. Baileys is a great company & has very good customer service.

The coil part number is correct, but the picture & some applications are incorrect. The 009 Stihl IPL shows the 0000 0004 1306 coil alright, but the lead comes off of the side/top of the coil on the 009 series.

Well, besides this coil fitment issue... I ripped apart my "new to me" 009L and swapped the "Bad" coil into the good running saw.

The saw ran... I r stumped!? This is a matter of two wires and I can't figure this out AT ALL! :bang:
