Aftermarket takes out another one

Had a MS271 in the shop. Very low compression. No scoring visible through ports. Disassembled. Found aftermarket piston in cylinder.
One the the legs on the pin keeper had broken off. Scored piston and cylinder. And yes, they were at the bottom of the hole.
If you are going aftermarket, use the Stihl pin keepers. The is a reason the have no legs sticking up!

It's crazy how they make those aftermarket circles with that really long leg. I've used a few but I cut most of that leg off.

I just noticed, when I typed "circlips" my stupid phone changed it to circles.

Ouch! I must admit stihl use to use them in older saws, I quite like them for ease of installation, but clearly the quality is different, I have never had a stihl c-clip with the legs fail and I’ll reuse them if they’re good too.
