I bought this 026 on ebay and asked him before I bought it if there was a MAJOR poblem with it, would I be able to return it and the return shipping would be on my dime and no hard feelings. He said he's not a "chainsaw guy" so he doesn't know anything about it and there is no warranty on it. He was soooo worried about his 100% feedback that he said if I wasn't sure then I shouldn't buy it. The biggest problem was that he was selling it for "about" going rate for a running 026.

He contacted me after I won and said he wasn't comfortable selling it to me because I asked too many questions. He gave me the option to cancel or follow through with the purchase and I said if he was that unsure of it then just to cancel it. He then offered to sell me the saw for less money AS IS and no complaints for $120 shipped with a case so I took it. At this point I figured he was really honest or knew it was junk.

I just got it today and my hunch was correct as it only has 60#'s but overall its nice. The cylinder doesn't look too bad but the rings look about flush with the piston and that has some scoring. I didn't tear it down yet but I might be able to get away with just the piston and rings.

I was checking out ttyR2's thread this morning before I got the saw and his looks good. :chainsawguy:

I'd be concerned over the fact that he couldn't tell the difference between a 026 and a 076 ;).

I hope that you get it up to muster for short $$!

I prolly would have dodged a sale to you as well. No warranty... means exactly that... No warranty. Buy it as is... no returns. Ebay is buyer beware. Always has been, always will be.

Whether the cat was honest or not... heck he was even retarded enough to list it as an 076 when it said it's an 026 right on the top cover.

You did fine. Looks like a clean saw. If any concerns with the topend, get a new OEM 44.7mm topend from bcorradi for $85 and you'll be good to go. I'd pressure test it and put a kit in the carb too. Also inspect the fuel and impulse lines and intake boot for cracks while you're in there.

from the listing

"I was cleaning my store room this weekend and ran across this saw, I obtain it from a friend that needed some funds, sometime back.

I am not a chainsaw person, nor do I know much about them orhow to measure the bar lenth?

Please note that it has been sitting for a few years, so I am not sure what it will need or if it is a good running saw.

With that said, It is being sold as-is with no warranty knowing that it might need work."

these words would have been enough to make me think twice....

I asked him if he thought his "buddy" would have givin him a saw that was blown up but he didn't mention anything in his response.

I just don't understand why people can't be honest. I didn't really need the saw but what if I REALLY needed it and it is the way it is.

I guess if you really "needed" it then you'd be SOL cause you did by a used as is saw sight unseen, I don't buy things that the seller can't tell me if it works or not unless i get it real cheap...
