I had need of a new air filter, and called a dealer for one today. My first choice was the felt flocked model, of which he has one. So far, so good.
Apparently there are 3 types available to fit modern chain saws...the felt type that I am familiar with, and two types of fine nylon mesh screen types, on 40 micron and one 80 micron.
Now I am assuming that the 40 micron will stop a smaller particle than the 80 will, and somebody told me (I think when I replaced the filter on a Jonsered saw recently) that the nylon mesh is a "cold weather" item. What's the real deal on that? why all the different kinds?
The kid at the parts counter had no idea.
