Hi, I would like some input on a boom I am looking at. My skyworker is too tuff to get parts for and outdated so I am looking at a AM755 on a 90 IH all wheel drive chassis. well maintained and in nice shape.Could anyone let me know some pros and Conn's to this boom? Thanks for any advise on THIS BOOM .

I had an AA755 on a 99 ford chassis - not sure if the AM755 is the overcenter version or what the difference is?? That boom had a 1500# winch and jib. It seemed like a good solid boom though i didn't use it much between the time I bought and resold it (with the purpose of making a few bucks in mind which I did). I kinda hated to sell it as it was a nice tree boom.

Good:

35' side reach and 60' working height
snappy boom with smooth controls
rotating single bucket and jib worked nice together

Negative:

Not over center
single basket not as convenient as two-man basket
lower controls in a dumb position for operation from the ground.
No remote winch control from ground but did have ground controls on turret (just a dumb location for such)

I've also owned an altec aa600 which was good

Pics of truck I had...

Thank for the reply, I Bought the truck and started using it, It is over center on the top but not on the bottom, Has a 2000ld winch on top and swing out bucket. Bottom boom has a 5000lb lifting eye. controls on bottom in same stupid place. 4x4 IH with dt466 auto for 9500 dollars, was it a good deal? Would you happen to know what the third lever is for on the right side where my stabilizer controls are. I have front right lever, rear right lever then the mystery lever? Thank you:confused:

Unless the middle lever is the winch, I don't know. My truck had 4 stabilizers and only two control levers - right for both front and back on right and same for left. Winch control was a little turn knob on the turret. Dumb dumb location.

That price doesn't seem too bad - maybe on the higher side but, of course, it depends on overall condition of both truck and boom. Nice to have the 4x4. Got any pics to share and more info on the truck?
