We had two different certified shops look at the boom, first one said they could not duplicate the problem and said that the went over the boom and all was good. Second shop said the rams were bad on both cylinders, so they put two new rams and new seals and said all was good. So now the upper boom is still drifting sometimes slow and others time quick. Now when it does start to drift which I might add is not all the time I can stop it by lifting up on the lever. Has anyone had any experience with these booms and the issues I've described . Any help would be greatly appreciated . Dan

I changed the pistol grip about a year ago, I keep saying its got to be a check value but the two shops assured me they where in working order , but i will check the grip again being its the easiest place to start , but at 1500$ not a cheap piece. Thanks

I had a problem that was diagnosed efficiently & free by calling Ed, a technical adviser from Altec: (816) 364-2244. He took a day or so to pull the prints on my truck to get familiar with the hydraulic flow, but was spot on with the first diagnosis. In my case, it was a swelled o-ring that had slipped off a spool. Have a safe holiday & Good Luck!!

Simple test for check valve, shut engine hit lower controls you should not be in bucket if it drifts down the check valve is bad.

OMG I dread people working on my things they were here a half dozen or more times already! It seems you are better off doing things for your self! Every time I get something fixed it gets worse!

One thing I learned you need a person that is an expert on the particular machine or they are just guessing. Call the manufacturer on
Monday ask to speak with a technician for that model and tell him whats going on and find out for your self what is wrong! If it is the check valve it may be a bolt on repair.
