Is it one of those old whisper chipper chuck and duck systems? Ya know, the ones with out feed wheels? They can be decent units as long as you keep the knives sharp and arnt feeding alot of stringy branches into them like willow or elms suckers. They tend to clog up the exhaust chute.

Seems like there have been a lot of chuck n duck threads lately:cool:

You know the bolts that hold the blade wedge bars in place? Buy a box of each kind to have on hand as spares. When changing blades replace the bolts if the heads start stripping out. Royal pain to get those bolts out when they're stripped.

I almost enjoy chipping stuff like willow with a drum chipper. I believe it is alot faster. Spruce and pine limbs too. The only drawback a whipper chipper has compared to a self feeder is when it comes to chipping dead stuff. Enjoy your new machine!

asplund

Asplund came down these ways to, they got there butt kicked by local companies. Most of the EPV's owned by one of the companies I contract for have asplund stickers in the cabs as asplund couldnt survive the competition and sold there kit. They have even started doing lawns!

2nd hand chippers are as rear as rockinghorsecrap around here, I have seen only a couple for sale in all of NZ over the last year. Might have to come have a look in Aussie when I have some money.

Hope Melbournes treating you well, I hear our cities are quite alike.
