I've got an older model woodchuck 12" with the ford straight six 300ci motor. The radiator is bad and needs replaced. Altec says the replacment is 675$. Had anyone else had this problem and found a less expensive route? It's $500 to get it recored but that's still high

Even a good used one will cost you $200 - $300. Then you would want to get it boiled and pressure tested, $100.
Might as well recore the one you have.

Oh, and never go through the dealer for such things. Do a search for "Ford L6 radiator". I bet you will find someone building radiators new who will have all the specs he needs.
