In response to Old Dirtys questions about using one ring on a saddle with multiple TPs

here are three pictures showing the proper techinique for tyeing a anchor 8 which allows the use of multiple TPs off of one ring when gerth hitched to a saddle

Sling is a Metolius 48" sling though i use a 24 inch sling when using this in conjunction with 2 grigris to make work positioning easier, with a shorter sling it also gets your gear much closer to a proper working height.

First begin to tie a figure 8 :

Thread a loop through as if you were going to tie a slip knot

Pass running end over F8

Bring running end down below the main section of the F8 and pull slack out using the loops that have been created

Both "ears" have the same strength as a sling with a knot in it and can be used together or speratley when properly cinched down there is no slipage when one leg is weighted

I keep one of these clipped to a biner on my saddle at all times it is perfect for when you need to set up a positioning system using 2 grigris or similar devices between multiple TPs

it can also be used with 2 slings basket hitched or gerth hitched to equalize a load when lowering with a longer sling
