More pics in the bigMacs album in my profile. A dozen of these big boys.

I really should buy a big saw and CS mill but I'm so strapped for cash now it's driving me insane.
So, who's keen? Anyone? I reserve the right to scrounge the $ and gear I need and make a total balls-up of my first CS milling opportunity should I decide to tackle these ones myself. Or I could be a happy helper for someone who has a portable or CS mill.

The "Mac" in "Big Macs" generally refers to Cupressus Macrocarpa here in NZ. More info here.

hey mate where bouts in jaffa land are ya, only a couple of them are worth wasting time with if there not rotten inside, which being in auckland is highly likely

Currently in the middle of nowhere in the Far North. Was told they grow 'em bigger up here so thought I'd investigate and they weren't wrong. Thought I'd be fine with a 32" bar but looked at some gums yesterday that made 32" look seriously and dangerously undersized so may have to leave 'em for another trip when I can afford a bigger saw/bar.

The Macs in this thread are in Henderson, down an 80m hill from the road with no other access than cross country to the road. I figure either mill 'em on site and trailer out the lumber/slabs, or shovel logs up the hill with a digger with grapple and load onto trucks. No point skidding them if can't load em when get to top of hill. But I've come to realise they just aren't worth spending too much money on so am going to leave 'em.
Property owner doesn't want to spend a cent. Wants it done for the wood only. Sitting on a multi-million dollar plot of dirt he wants to develop and wont spend a cent on removing the trees. It takes all folks to make the world go around I suppose.

If I could find someone that could mill there and trailer out the wood, taking the wood as payment, then it might happen, otherwise it's pushing the proverbial uphill.

Couple there would be worth a bit of cash,we cut one down on a subdivision we built, from memory it was about 60-70 inch diameter nice round trunk paid us about $1200 for it, that was down here in the naki.

Tks. I'll have to redo my sums on this in case I got decimal point in the wrong place. Otherwise, do you have the buyers number you could private message me please? I'll give them a call. tks

Let me know if you want me to track him down, I doubt it would be profitable to travel to Auckland to mill them, this guy milled everything into sleepers to sell to garden centers.
