thinking of purchasing one of these units, anyone have any experience with either? The reason being is I have a bad back and have a hard time lifting the blocks onto my splitter, figured this might be the solution...

I wanted to get one of these . Couldn't get much feed back on them. Seems like they would work great. I think it's the cost that scares most people away. And you have to have a machine to run them. I decided to just lift the big rounds on the splitter with my loader. Split them in half and let the one half fall back in the loader. And split the other half. Use the bucket as a table. Still takes some work but saved me 1600. I'm talking about the upside down skidsteer splitter. But would mount it on a tractor.

Yea I don't want to spend the money either, the way you do it sounds good though, I will give it a try. Its 1600 for the walenstien and twice that for the tm pro I am looking at althouth the tm is twice the machine (and weight, 350 and 750 respectfully)

I have alot of big rounds that still need to be split. They would be done if I had bought one. Or at least quartered. It would be fun sitting on a seat and getting the job done. I was looking at a lighter one from wood splitters.com or something. Think it was 15 ish. 400 lbs I think.

Yea my back is pretty bad, even trying to get the big rounds onto the bucket are gonna be a challenge, cant wait till my kids are a little older! I have my oldest home for summer vacation so I am going to get him to help and try your method today but still tenpted, I have a wallenstien chipper I never use that I might try and trade in towards one. Is that a kabota? or a Kioti? looks like a nice little compact. I have a yanmar cbl 40 that I love

I have gotten pretty good at it but still a little worried about tipping one off onto the engine. I leave it a little low and roll it on. It works better than the vertical position. That's pretty much useless.

Well bought a used processor today ,its a off shore "range road" price was right, we will see how she works! Not like the ones we are discussing, its a full on processer, check the web site if you like. pics to come..

I have two of the Tm pro splittlers. Great for saving your back. The 24 and 32 pro. Use the 24 pro 98% of the time. Much faster with 4 inch cylinder. But for something hard the 32 will get it done. Even split the log sideways. I get logs that no one wants. To big. A smooth cement pad is a must or you will dig a hole by spinning. Nice to split with the heater running in the winter or AC in the summer.

Thanks for the feedback Tim, I have bought a traditional "processor" but am still considering a TM for the "big" stuff as I can only get a log up to 14" into the processer. Guy local has one used but wants to much, if he will come down I hope to get it. Do you use a skidsteer? I don't have one and am planning on using a subcompact tracter, I can see just fine and its HST for fiddling around, I figure worst case I can rent a skidsteer and do all my big rounds in a weekend!
