Time will tell. The saws I have out so far are doing well. The customers really like the antvibe. The 270s woke up quite a bit after break in. Underpowered? Not this one. will give a 260 a run for its money. But, like I said, not until broke in.

After running this saw a few times after the muffler modded it has some balls.
Last week I decided to use it again, there was snow on the ground and after using the saw a little while and skidding a tree out when I went to use it again it wouldn't start. So I hopped on my cell phone and Dan, Lamebert, EHP, Cohoon, Dennis G, Ken dunn or fish wouldn't pick up the phone. So I decide to Take the airfilter off. Since I am the number one putz here until I saw Mike Maas Use a chance saw, The filter was frozen, but when removed the saw woke right up and had some noticable power gains.I am trying to get the winter kit for it right now. There is a winter carb opening like the Husky but I hadn't noticed it til later. The US Instructions I was given didn't even mention it until I went to the Stihl website for Canada and showed a picture of it.
The Muffler was worked over by Dan Henry and it brought the saw to life but after discovering that the saw's airfilter resticts it's power and removing it has stirred new intrest for me in the saw. I am going to keep it. Was I going to sell it prior to the airfilter deal Yes. They are also a little smoother in the anti vibe dept but not like a Husqvarna.
Does the 280 have more power than the 026 both stock with mufflers open yes. Will it outlive a 026 I Dunno. Time will tell but since I might use it once a month I'll Never know either.
Now that I have a 026 Artic on the way I'll able to sleep better knowing I have a saw for the snow days and I will have 3 Stihl saws. So I don't classify this saw as a CLUB. But then again Stihls are like sheep they never like to be left alone.
