I'm trying to get a handle on the market for a mobile bandsaw milling operation in Colorado and the best area(s) to concentrate on. Any members have any experience they'd not mind sharing?

Find a niche market. Be flexible in your thinking. It will help to offer additional services, especially kiln drying and planing. Don't expect have a thriving business from day 1. Check the Resources tab of woodweb.com to look for sawyers in different parts of the country. Might also check on Craigs List for sawmill operators. What kind of sawmill & what part of CO? Mobile milling can be a pain in the neck, depending on the mill. If you don't already have your portable sawmill, look for something that is quick and easy to set up. I charge mileage, plus a fee for setting up. That discourages people from asking me to drive 80 miles to cut up a couple of 4" logs (it'll happen!). Good luck!
