I guess I'm snowed out for a couple of days. Monday before noon it was almost 60 degrees at the jobsite. Today the wind chill was -33 F, right now the temp is -19 and dropping. About a foot of snow now where there was none on Monday, supposed to get another 2 to 6 inches in the morning. High temp for tomorrow is predicted at -1 F.
I'm having to screw up my nerve to go outside to get firewood.

Andy

I'm liking it. I'm not having to drive on snowy roads and can wear leather boots and the firewood cutters are cutting away where they are usually snowed out of.
No wallowing along to mark out corridors in the snow. No snowshoes...life is good.

I suspect we'll get snow again. March is usually a good month for snow. Then I'll go skiing.

Haha. Yeah, go ahead and rub it in.
It's been a real mild winter up until now. I think I've only lost 2 days to weather since October. I figured it was coming sooner or later, but I could sure do without the sub zero temps. after such a mild beginning.
I heard someone say they got 3" of snow in El Paso, TX and Las Cruces, NM. I need to call my son in Tucson and see what it's doing there.

Andy

We have crazy weather here too. Way too nice, sunny, mild, dry makes for a good winter break, but if it doesn't start raining again, the trout will be carrying canteens.

I wish it would snow to break up the monotony of rain. It was about 60 this last weekend and now its in the 20's go figure. Al Gore has
pissed somebody off.

Hush. I am having to drive on a very steep road. I like it when the ground is frozen and dust is starting to show up. If I like it, the log truck drivers must love it. It is a terrifying drive when slick with snow or ice.

You may have all the snow you want, but please don't wish it here, until March.:glasses-cool: I found my sunglasses.

I meant here not everywhere, I don't mind driving on it, the only thing that makes me mad is the people who don't know what to do on snow.

I guess I'm just not as tough as the folks in the north, and Canada or Alaska. But damnit, this is southern New Mexico it's not supposed to be -27 when you wake up. Were having a heat wave right now it's up to +6. The skidder was gelled up this morning and I just ain't screwing with it today. Supposed to warm back up to the upper 40's by Sunday. I'm sure those trees will still be there then.
I try not to cry about too much.................but it's friggen cold!!!

I just picked my Annie some red roses. Birds are singing in the trees, grass is growing and the ocean is quiet.

Ok Randy, you slowp, and madhatte are just trying to make me feel bad. By this time next week I'll be happy again (I hope).
They always told me that there's always someone in worse shape than you are, and I guess it holds true here too. A lot of folks down the hill, and even up in Albuquerque are having natural gas & power outages. They're used to a lot warmer weather than I am and it's cold all over. I've got wood for heat, and about 100 gal. of propane left in the tank so I guess I'm ok if I can stay inside until this blows over.

Yup, even up into the Enchanted Circle they are out of natural gas.

seems like when we have nice weather the rest of the country gets hammered.

Yeah, last winter we had a butt load of snow but the temps stayed between 10 and 30 degrees. I can take a little snow, but waking up to -27 is for the birds. Up until this little blast we only had a few inches of snow all season, and the temps were warm. I guess that's what's making me whine.
I think I heard them say on tv that it's been over 30 years since temps reached -20 here.

A lot of people are hurting right now. One of my son's lives down the hill, and they have no gas or electricity. I told him to come on up, but he said he just needed to borrow a 100 lb. propane tank and they'd be fine. He hooked up a couple of propane heaters. Not everyone has that luxury. But it did warm up to about 15 down there today.

We are back to our normal rain today, and tomorrow, and sounds like the weekend. I unplugged the light that keeps the faucet in the shop from freezing.

I hope your pipes are all OK.

I've lived in cold areas, and it just makes everything harder to do. Except skiing.

Thanks slowp, all my pipes are fine somehow. A lot of neighbors aren't as fortunate.
I can't imagine skiing when it's this cold. Then again I can't imagine skiing at all. Kinda funny, I have lived within 2 miles of our ski area for 25 years and have never been. I was going to go once but I had a dream the night before about crutches. I guess that dream could have been a preminition of shattering my knee 4 months later though.
