Found a nice one for relatively short money. Up to this point, I sub all my grinding out, but it's starting to feel like I'm throwing money away.

with subbing it out do you have to wait intill the stumps are out to get paid alot? thiers alot of nice morbarks on treetrader right now. morbark is definetly built to last they dont use cheap metal i bought a grapple versatech was the brand name and learned my lesson about cheap metal.

if i was in the market for a grinder tho im not sure how many hp that machine is but ive had a sc352 and to me that thing was slow so if you think that bobcat grinder was slow. the vermeer was like right under 40hp and i wanted to rip my hair out alot on big stumps even had greenteeth on it.

thier 60-70+ hp models float through stumps they have a pretty unique cutting system

This one is a 27HP. I'm not too concerned with the speed as I am the convenience of being able to do a job start to finish in one day, and not have to rely on an outside source. I know the thing isn't the fastest, but with next to no hours on it, and the price I can have it for, it seems as though it's a "why not" type of deal. If I can knock off 80 percent of my stump grinding in house, and just leave the monsters for a sub, then that's good enough for me.

I am looking for experience with this specific machine, or at least a comparison of something very similar. I do agree with you Matt, that the build quality of Morbarks is great.

We had a Morbark salesman stopped by yesterday, he dropped off a bunch of info on their grinders, I am looking for the same info, wanna hear from someone who has one.

I'd like to see a Morbark or Bandit in action. Everyone in my state runs Carlton, Rayco, or Vermeer grinders including myself. No I've never seen either a Morbark or Bandit being towed and there are plenty of those chippers being used. I just thought for a while there was a proclivity for them to break or poor performance and thats why no one used those grinders around here.

There are a few companies around here running really big bandit grinders (look really impressive), but I've never seen a morbark around. Rayco dominates, then carlton and vermeer fall next in line. The carlton 7015 looks to be one of the baddest machines out.

Obviously Morbark can build a chipper and tub grinder, so I bet their grinders can get it done as well. That in mind, any 27 hp gas grinder is gonna be slow and painful, but you can still make $ with them. Any grinder is better than no grinder really, just because of the freedom to use it when you please. The small ones are good for tight spots, but a rg50 diesel grinder does 95% of the stumps we do at my work. So it is something to think about.

We own a Morbark d52 sph with pretty much all of the available options. If you have the choice go with the 44hp kubota, you can never have too much hp. The remote is more of a toy then a tool its fun to use but appart from driving to and from stumps we find it impractical due to the signal delay.

The M1 gold cutting system cuts really well but the teeth are expensive to replace and tend to crack when hitting rocks, we have been able to sharpen them for a little less then the cost of buying new ones. The grinder works really well allmost too well we find that when the motor is being pushed hard it tends to overheat so we just make sure not to bog it down too hard. The 52'' grinder arc swing and swing speed is great and you can get quite deep with the boom too which is great when replanting on the same spot.

The one thing that really bugs me about the machine is the turning radius which is poor its like comparing an f350 to an Isuzu cab over. We use the backfill blade to carry tools and plywood deflectors because the chips end up in the neighbors yard or your helpers face otherwise.

If I had the choice to buy morbark or other machines I would buy morbark the support from the company is as impressive as the product it makes me sad to see all of this yellow fibreglass garbeege being toted around. These machines are heavy but built tough and built to last imo morbark ftw!

I could see why the turning radius sucks, It's pretty frickin long. I like the size of the boom though looks like it can get down pretty far. And yeah, thing is heavy... Weighs in at 1600lbs. I like that!

I will try to add a video of the machine as soon as I dont forget the camera at the office. Pics are first stump fresh from factory paint. The trailer survived and has been replaced by a dual axle enclosed.

How much money are you talking about? mine was 36k until I put a ####load of options on it you dont want to know the final price. At the time our exchange rate wasnt as good as it is now so I'm sure that affected the price by a fair bit.
