I sell firewood and have a CSM setup for my own personal selections but was thinking about cutting some premium slabs and posting them online to see if I got any bites.

Anybody do this?

I have a lot of cherry and oak, I was thinking about posting milling some 6 foot slabs that include some crotch. Maybe 2 inches thick?

What does the forum think would have the best chance of selling?

i have tried it with oak,and spalted maple.have had no sucsess . i do have a logger friend who does this, and has had some luck at this.one thing to think about is you want to mill slabs around .25 inches thicker to allow for warpage during drying and still have a substantial slab that can be trued out for a flat surface.good luck, let us know how it goes.

Have you thought about advertising the timber type as slabs but orders taken for size, thickness.....made to order.

would have to make it known if the wood is green or dry.

all the best

hi there,I have made a real nice cash side income selling wide hardwood slabs and 2 inch thick seems to be what 99% of the people want..most of my stuff is green and the wider the better..i sell each slab for $50-75 each depending on the species and width i mostly sell maple but cherry does very well. I do it all with a alaskan csm . try one log and set a price and see how it does and i always say if they buy in quantity then ill knock a lil off but i think you'll be amazed at how many calls you get...good luck

Boon I will offer the custom cuts, but they will be green obviously and it will depend on when I have the tree available. I am hoping to make a few extra bucks on already cut slabs

Looks like the consensus is 2" for pre-cuts. I will hopefully mill a few this weekend and get it posted
