now that is a cool show. swamp loggers is some cool chips!!
i saw swamp logging, helo logging and mule logging. imo it blows ax-men show out of the shows id rather watch. ice road truckers is purdy cool too.

I really liked the widowmaker log truck on the mule logging show...
love that thing:clap: takes some major abuse. looks like the feller was not notching his trees and just use back cut front cut. i guess it dont matter that much and saves a lil wood. id bet if they did use a notch they wood avoid all them dang hangups and damage less of the forest.

Yeah they did seem to hang up alot of trees. At least the cutter kept looking up at what was going on above, but i was thinking to myself.. just cut the dam thing already.
The TV show Dirty Jobs did a horse logging episode... and the guys had a similar log truck.

The swamp and mule logging i liked. The boss at the helo logging site seemed to uptight about even the littlest things.

there is something on science or discovery channel tonight at 10pm about redwoods. catch it if ya can!!

I thought that the mule logging was a nice counter point to the feller-buncher type logging used by the swamp logger and some of the Axe-men guys. That selective cutting can still be done as an alternative to clear cutting or highly mechanized methods (skylines and chokers) was interesting, as was harvesting veneer logs versus pulpwood.

Although, if I recall, the mule guys (4 guys, 6 mules, 2 trucks) got a total of something like $900 for three days work?

I watched the Swamp Loggers.... :jawdrop: Unreal!! I couldn't imagine someone even attempting to log that ground.

I liked all three. You can definitely see the stress level go up from low cost operation (mule) to middle cost (Swamp), to the high cost of Helo Logging. I can see why that guy is uptight. Gotta run a tight ship or you wouldn't be able to see all of the bleeding money, let alone stop it. It's all about the dollars.

Are these three episodes the only ones out now?

I watched it, could not get off the couch. The mule looging look neat but alot of work especially getting the butt log on the truck.
