I recently cut a black walnut that has a straight section 9' long. 23" on one end, 17" on the other. I am cutting the rest up for firewood but seems a shame to do that to the best part. Anyone interested in it for milling? Would be willing to trade it for some good hardwood firewood or ?? Just outside St. Louis in Illinois.

Thats about all you can do with one log firewood or give it to somebody to work with I am a about a 100 miles from you the mills won't pay here about $25.00 to $30.00 dollars.

There is a guy around Alton with a woodmiser. Why don't you have him cut some slabs for ya?

Contacted a couple local guys. One said business was slow and had plenty already. The other offer was low enough I just will make firewood. Maybe if I have another one I can take a bit more time and figure something else out.

Yes. I know that some people think they are worth huge prices. I realize that isn't the case. I knew that before I started the thread. It IS pretty amazing and funny what some people expect a person to do for one tree. I pick up some free wood for firewood on CL in addition to cutting some on my own place.

My wife said that cartoon was about the most stupid thing she had ever seen, while I watched it over and over, cracking up. I guess if you don't get it, you don't get it, Joe.

Don't mean you Jim, you stated up front you weren't trying to retire on it.
