Yes. I sold my O26 Pro for after buying one. I think it is an excellent saw. Vibrates a little more than the O26, and it would be nice with the side chain adjuster, but it cuts excellent, runs excellent, looks good, and has held up good so far.

Yeah Baby!

Hi Rich,
I've had my 651P a little over 2 years now. I love it! IMHO, it's the best 3ci. saw available. I haven't run against a 3ci. saw (stock) that can beat it yet. Love the 2 year commercial warranty too. Must be the closed porting and the ignition. The ignition must advance the timing a hair to make it run like a raped ape.
I used to think the 026 was the cats a$$ un til I got my Solo. Sold the Stihl a week later. Can you say "fully adjustable carburator?"

We use to sell a lot of the 644 and 651 pro solo saws. good saw. they really run good with the west coast air filter system!

A few questions for you guys w/ 651 Pro's:

Where can you buy one by phone or web order?

Is parts support a reality?

It appears that Solo has gone from simple direct sales to a protected distributor system with territories in the past year or two...

Jeff Sikkema is the guy that I bought all my Solo saws from.

Jeff is a great guy to deal with and is also a member of this site!

Yes, parts support directly from Solo is as good as it gets. You register with them and order what you need. Everything is on a PDF format and is real simple to follow. I have ordered at least 5 times in the last year and everything was in stock and delivered on a timely basis.

I have a Solo 690 (90cc) and it's a strong running, easy-to-start, reliable saw. When I got it (used demo) there were a few little things that I needed and Solo hdq. helped me out with no problem. I would not hesitate to buy a Solo 651 and might except how can I justify getting a 4th saw for cutting firewood?

I agree with sedanman, if you can find a good used one go for it. I actually have a few used 651 solo's standard version if anyone is interested!

Tony

I do not have any of the 651SP models all I have are the Pro version with the red top on them. What I meant by west coast model is those saws where set up with a k&n filter system! A 644 or 651 would really run with that set up on them.

When we were selling solo's new most of the 644 & 651 would be sold with a west coast filter system and all of our 670's -690 &603 would have them on them. Most of the 667's that we sold used them. If anyone has a bigger cc solo convert it to the k&n you will be glad you did.

If I bought a new 651 pro, would it have a 3 screw carb?

If one of you guys could look under the hood of yours and tell me if it's a Walbro, or whatever, I'd appreciate it.

As stated, I must agree that in my case, "need" and "chainsaw purchase" are all too often mutually exclusive events.

Yes, they still have all three screws. Javelin, I'd rather have the pro version anyway. How much use on these saws? Does the filter mods change the filter cover at all? I'm still interested.

Yes the filter cover has to be cut to put the k&n on the saw. I have one saw with the standard filter and I beleve If my partner did not sell them this week I have 6 west coast models. I have been gone all week so I will have to check. As far as use they are used but all of them run good. The West cost models came from a firewood woodyard and they trade every other year. The standard filter saw that I have came from a farmer, it does not show all that much use on it. It has a 18" bar and the red solo name is still on the bar. I would take $150 for it. the west coasts models are equipped with 15" bars and I would take $175 a piece for those. I am trying to post some pic's and I will try to send you pic's of the saws.

The 644/651 pro solo used three diffrent carbs. They were Zama, Walbro and a Bing. Hope this helps!
