I am hooking up a whole house steam humidifier to my Clayton 1802g wood furnace. The humidistat instructions say that it needs to be hooked up to the furnace terminals and the thermostat. My problem is that my furnace is not connected to a thermostat at all and the terminals on the furnace do nothing to tell the humidistat that the fan is running. The furnace relies only on the limit switch to tell it when the fan is to come on or off. How can I make this work? Maybe a relay on the fan wire? I don't know, any help is appreciated.

My HVAC buddy is re-thinking the steam humidifiers after he switched jobs from the papermill to homeowner installs/repairs. He said he's seeing a lot of rust inside the ducts from steam humidifiers.
