Hey, I want to start this thread because I know that there are a lot of different schools of thought out there about which knot is best suited for which task. It does come down to personal preference for alot of knots so what part of the world are you form and what knots do you use for which task? Anybody use knotless systems, what are the pros and cons? Im from Québec, I use running bowline for tying off smaller limbs or tying off the last section of a spar before becoming coming down and felling it. Timber Hitch for blocking off sections of timber, alpine butterfly and clove Hitch for various purposes, double fisherman for tying off two sections of rope, I use a Michoacán Hitch when climbing.

You should be usin a double clove locked off with a timber hitch for serious wood catchin mate, IMO.

Particularly heavy hardwood Eucs n such in SoCal IME.
