Remember when the Treefund gave a grant to Arbormaster and with Samson they were doing knot strentgh break tests? I was told that the information collected fromthose tests is NOT to be released to us, I'm sure we could have access to it for a fee, though it would seem that the ISA would have it available for their dues paying members at least. Does anyone have any info on this or was this just another vicious rumor started to discredit those yahoos. :angry2:

Sounds like another 'watch out for any possible liability' issue, if it is true that the info will not be released it is a shame, the info would have been useful.

:p Lol----I think it hilarious that no one else sees the humor in the quote. Watch out here comes the Arbormaster police to the rescue...

Too bad a few clowns hafta break the rules. screws it up for everyone.

I would think that by not releasing the info they are exposing themselves to liability. The results do not guarantee that the ropes will perform up to the tested levels. A simple disclaimer would cover this. The tests do guarantee to a relative level of accuracy what the true safe working limits are. By not releasing info that could potentially avoid property damage and/or personal injury they expose themselves to liability. They have the information assemilated but won't allow others to see it. In my uneducated opinion I figure they 1) Found out the ropes weren't as good as avertised or 2) They don't care if people outside of Arbormaster are injured.

Keep in mind I have a limited ability to infer hidden information but those are the only two reasons I can come up with.
Now it's on the internet and they are shouldering the liability.

Additionally I think it is unfair to refer to them as clowns.
Clowns are entertaining...........Rip and Ken bore me!:)

Xander, I could be wrong, but I think P_woozel's point was that the tree fund is a charitable organization, and Samson and Arborma$ters are for profit. He thinks the ISA members should have free access to the test results.
This is wrong of course, because that would be like asking a scholarship recipient to give up part of his salary to ISA members, once he's working.

Has anyone contacted the Research Fund office to ask them about this rumored research? This whole discussion is built on a mythical research project. Now it's at a point that it needs to be run through Snopes to find out if it's an urban legend.

Tom,
There you go again being reasonable!

Don't you know Al Gore invented the internet to provide a superhighway of misinformation!

Just perpetuate the story......add some drama, legal terms, unsubstantiated facts and warnings and watch it grow.

Snopes is the equivalent of round-up to internet lore.

I was told today that The results will be released at our ISAO In London On Canada in feb.

Look at that......you point out their liable and they come through...........what else can I make up?:)

The ArborMaster crew already makes some serious cash with all the sponsorships, training videos and seminars, I dont see why they would need more money from a charitable organization to test ropes. Maybe some people just arnt content to be just a little bit wealthy.

You've gotta get it while you can..........next thing you know your the guys that used to do the training.........from hero to zero is just the "next great thing" away.
