yes

yes i Have 0! experience and after taking the ACRT course i felt i have the level of instruction that i had anticipated. After tking Arbormaster I want to go back not because I didnt learn enough but because there is so much more to learn. The costs for both programs are available on the web sites for both companies. I will take as many of the Arbormasters classes that i can. Not only did I learn alot but I had a great time!

my typing stinks sorry

In a nutshell. Arbormasters great ACRT not so bad but not that great either. For a rookie, why not both?

If you think Arbormaster was great come on out and work with us. I'll show you what arbormaster won't. I saw them at a trade show just to fill the time last Febuary and it seemed so old school. Its a good step to get to the next level. Using those techniques will help you get to where you don't need it.

Hey
It depends on what course you are taking
I am third generation in arboriculture
I grew up around saws and my Dad taught me all I knew about chainsaws and felling a tree
He is pretty good and so was I
What could I possibly learn from a precision felling course?
Squat right but it was free to me and I needed to get away with some buddies so I went
You know what I learned most is that when it came to tree work I am a arrogant S.O.B sometimes and really didnt now jack
I learned so much and I am a better arborist becuase I am safer and so is my crew
I taught them what I learned and we are going back in the fall
Nothing wrong with repeating and brushing up
I do agree that some of it is old school but I am, as you guys sound like you are, up on todays tehcniques
Some people aren't so I am glad they are trying to be!
It betters us as a industry!
Take Care

regarding climbing hitch

yes they did teach Blake taughtline etc. they also taught Distal and Swabish, they also taught traditional and split tail climbing different types of descenders and ascenders. a few ways to footlock and so on. they explained how and why each friction hitch works. they really covered alotof the old and the new. I am suffereing from info overload so forgive me for my lack of any info.

Legand. You seem stoked. Good for you. Take in all you can and use what you like and feel comfortable with.

Rocky,
I dont know squat about the ArborMaster courses, just asked the question of whether they teach anything about plant health care because of the name: ARBOR MASTER.
The ISA calls their highest leval of certification "Master" so it seems like a reasonable question to ask

Legend the best thing for you to do is to work with a tree service for a while and learn the in's and out's of the business. This way you will have a full and deeper understanding for what you are learning. Pay close attention to the crew and be willing to learn, most guys will be glad to teach you, just keep an open mind.
