Absolutely awesome piece of equipment.

Pros -

0-1 % friction as opposed to 20-30% ish over a cambium saver, adjustable false crotch so you can install it over any size branch/stem without requiring a crotch (you can use it on a spar also), retrievable.

Cons -

Cant be installed from the ground easily.

Thats all i can think of at the moment, surely some one else can add some uses with out any more cons. Its not until you get one, use it and trust it that you realize how great it is.

Yea nice one Ekka, try before you buy. Find a mate with one and give it a good try it out, you wont regret it.

thanks guys,
i don't know anyone that has one so i guess ill just have to bite the bullet and shell out the money .... i checked out your video of it ekka....i'm also sold

The latest iteration of the Rope Guide is a step backwords. They use a strap vs. a rope for the TIP. It has a greater tendancy to catch in tight crotches.

If you can find the older version, it should be cheaper and you can swap out homemade choer ropes.

Since I tend to change my TIP often, I am not as happy with it on trims, unless I have to tie into some fat wood. On TD's it is a great time saver if you block/chunk long logs, or work with larger diameter wood. Being able to get the perfect angle when making a face cut sure makes handling a big saw easier.

If you can find that pulley somewhere you can use rope instead of the webbing and even sherill has one that is made from a half inch rope if money is a big concern. It can be spliced up fairly easy.

safty first

although very expensive i feel i really need this tool and it makes take downs much more smooth safe and cleaner and because i hate leaving stubs. stubs cause more damage to property and cause hangups iv been climbing for 10yrs and love modern tools they make work a lot safer 4 me in this business i have learned speed comes with knowage for 7yrs i could only rope em down now i rig em down much more pretty, safe and fast with minnamul effort and i never need a crotch or leave a stub thanks 2 the rope guide i can tie onto a flag pole if i want i prefer the prussic hitch over the pricey mechanical less reliable clutch:clap:

think twice move once and make all habbits good because habbits are hard 2 break:hmm3grin2orange:

splicing up half inch rope/16strand is very difficult and requires much steady practice:monkey:
