I’ve got mine apart and am ready to replace the bearings. The bearings in mine are over 35 years old with many, many tons of brush ran through it. They are NSK 6316 v but it looks like replacement are 6316 vv c3 and EXPENSIVE. $600 per bearing. I messed up a taper bushing on removal and found one online in Utah and a great price. I asked if they had bearings and was happy they did. The brand “Amcan” 6416 vv c3 for $240 shipped for both. I haven’t installed them yet and am starting to wonder if it was the right move. Obviously the NSK are great bearings and if 500 a piece is what it costs to get that quality then I should have done that. Have any of you used after market bearings and do they hold up?

Hey buddy, I’m having the same problem with 55 year old bearings. I’m lost at how to remove them as well as how to get the belt off. You mind sharing with me how you achieved it?

Tree Climber, where is Holland? I was born in Cleveland and my kin are either there, or in the, Ravenna, Barberton, Norton areas.

Also, can you and or the OP- B-edwards take pics of this bearings areas of these chippers? I have 0 experience with chippers but want to buy one and would like to see mechanical things to expect as far as maintenance and repairs go.
