finally got out new gear, and as figured like anything with leg straps , just crushes my nuts, holy cow how do you guys prevent this?
on another note got setup figured out, i am just trying body thrusting with a blakes hitch right now, must be doing something not quite right, need to look at more looking at videos.
would never question the strength of a tree climber after trying this, pulling yourself up with only a 1/2" rope to hold onto

If you are having trouble body thrusting make sure you are close enough to the trunk to have some decent weight on your feet. It is a lot harder to body thrust in free space.

do you anchor to bottom of tree when thrusting or just leave it loose? i seen a vidwo of the climbing arborist where it looks like it is just loose is why i ask

I leave mine loose so I can pull it up move it and dont have some moreon use it for something other than what it was intended to be used for. as for climbing as you get a little rope behond you i find it makes it easier to climb up. im only 160lbs on a good day so the work is all relative.

Your time could be better spent learning a skill like footlocking. I rearly see a climber who can footlock up a rope anymore. I wonder why that is? you need no specail tools, you use your legs which are stronger then your arms, you don't look like a monkey humping a coconut. It works on DRT or Ddrt

What prusik knot works well for a doubled up rope? I had a lot of trouble with the prusik while footlocking. I eventually gave up.
I used a blakes.
When using a Ddrt I just use what ever Im using. normally a Vt and I foot lock the single rope. The right bootss make a big difference in how hard or eassy it is

A prusik on a doubled rope did not loosen for me very well at all after loading. I see why you need a figure 8 to descend. I tried descending on it and it milked my rope before it locked up. At that point I was done.

Oh no, you can't come down on a prussic. it'll tighten down tight. I once tried coming down using one just a few feet from the ground and I got stuck there a foot above the ground. I had to slid out my harness. Normally you just use it to ascend then switch over.

after loading your prusik take another footlock and as you stand up use your thumb to push the bar on the hitch slightly to allow it to loosen a bit so it is easier to slide up
