I just replaced the main bearings on my gravely 6 inch. Shaft has issues (not running true) so I have to replace it. There is a half mm difference in the difference from one set of blades clearance and the other side.

Its been like this a little while, and isnt getting worse (I have a new shaft in the pipeline) but I cant afford not to use the machine.

I have a question, can having to great an anvil gap cause blades to get chipped? I opened up the clearance so there was no chance of mr anvil and Mrs Blades could get together, I think I went to far and the blades (brand new, same brand I always use) look like I have been chipping gravel. Never had this happen before, same brand blades and chipping the same material. No crap has gone through chipper, just usual material. My blades have never got chips until now.

Could the anvil gap cause this?
