after surfing the site a bit I came acrossed some posts mentioning this saw. Seems like it is in the size range I am looking for as I have been considering the 50cc Husky's. Does anyone know much about this saw? I live in an area where no one sells Solo so that might be a problem for service.

Also on a side note does anyone know what the specs are for a husky 242? Saw one for sale yesterday, looked like a decent saw.

Th 242 is a 42 cc saw. That is significantly less displacement than the B51 but the small Huskies are pretty good performers.

I haven't used a B51 but I like the Solo 634 I have. Generally the Solo saws have a good reputation.

The Poulan Pro 295 is the cheapest saw in this category-$115 for a factory reconditioned w/warranty saw on Ebay. Tony marks had good things to say about his.

I have a Poulan Pro 330 (actually my second one since the first was stolen after 2.5 years of use). It is arguably the most saw for the money available. $280 regular retail price off the shelf, 54ccs, Max RPM 13800, well balanced with the stock 22" bar.

Pike40 - If you wish to see more comments, use the ArborSite search function for a Solo 651SP. The pros & cons of this saw were covered in several previous threads.

Bailey's lists the B51 saw for $289 plus shipping. My personal preference would be the Husky 353 available online for $325 with a 20" bar & free shipping.

For an extra $20, you would step up to a saw with a magnesium crankcase and chain sidecover. Both the 651SP & 353 run the same Oregon .325 pitch 95VP chain.

I finally got around to weighing the 330. I didn't strip it to the powerhead. With 22" bar and chain and fuel and oil in the tanks it weighs 16.75 lbs on my scale. that should mean about 11.5-12 for the powerhead.:)
