Here's a Bandit 250 we just finish rehabbing. It's a nice machine. Sucked up a lot of time making it this nice though.

Just my 2 cents but
Why do you paint all the hydraulic hoses. This is the first place the paint starts to chip off, other than normal wear areas like the shoot, and it just makes the machine look like crap.
Again just my 2 cents.

Nice looking machine. I always admire your ads with the pictures of never seen-road-salt equipment of California......

Looks sweet apart from the UN paint job. Musta really burnt you to use it after painting it and putting new decals on!

In my opinion, the auto feed option is overrated on a 250. It just isn't all that intelligent of a unit, and kicks in too early so you get cranky with it and tend to disable it and feed it manually anyhow. My machine has the autofeed and I pretty much always leave it turned off. This is especially true if you have the 120 perkins, it almost doesn't need autofeed if you've got sharp blades and a well adjusted nicely squared anvil.

I'll confess I painted my hoses too. That's how they come from the factory, chute is painted too, and half the infeed roller! You wouldn't believe the hours it takes to paint one of these, I'd never do it again.

Not sure what you mean by "UN paint job" but white is the most agreeable color when it comes to selling something so I try to always paint white. White also oxidizes less then other colors so it holds up better although its is harder to keep clean.
As for painting the hoses, that's a toss up. My hydraulic guy says its not good to do it but the manufactures seem to disagree. The hoses on this one had been painted before so of course I'm going to paint them but if they were new I'd would tape. I think that paint on a used hose will protect it from the sun but for new its better to use the uv/ballistic webbing cover but that stuff is really expensive.

I was referring to the united nations ;-) Maybe things are different stateside from how they are in aus. Most trucks are painted white here, it's the easiest color to sell and looks clean. Custom painted trucks (yellow, green, black) are very hard to sell. Different story when it comes to chippers though, very very rarely will you see a white or black chiper. Most just go with factory colors, and those are by far the easiest to sell. I've not seen a white chipper in person, but I can just imagine how quickly it would get filthy. green is a great color for hiding the usual muck
