Yes, I have owned both. My 2900T was an older model with the 90 something HP Deutz diesel engine. It just had a regular Bandit wheel with Greenteeth. I had it for 2 years. Then, I sold it and bought a 7015TRX with the 66Hp Deutz, with the Sandvic wheel.
I was never really happy with the performance of the Bandit. It was very hard to work on, even just regular service. Hyd hoses were routed in hard to get to places, so replacing a bad hose was quite a chore. The hydraulics were hard to get used to. Swing was stronger one way than it was the other way. The whole back end of the machine jumped up and down on the stump, even with new Greenteeth. It finally beat the up/down hyd adj. cyl until it poured oil. Not a cheap fix. I even had the Bandit salesman try to adjust it out, and it never got any better. I did a lot of work with the Bandit, but got rid of it as soon as I could afford something else. It was a "first Generation" machine from about 2005. I am sure Bandit has done a lot of upgrades to the latest generation of 2900's.
The 7015 is a great machine. Well designed, nimble, easy to work on, easy to operate, never gave me any problems. It cut better than the 2900, with a lot less horsepower. I suppose the Sandvic wheel had something to do with that, however, the Carlton was just a better overall machine in my opinion.
I know it is hard to get a demo, but try to get a demo from the dealers, or find some machines working in your area, and go have a look at them.
