Does anyone have experience with Lombardini engines? Good or bad? I'm looking at a 2006 90w with low hours, 60 hp Lombardini diesel. I have never heard of these engines and don't want to get stuck with crap...

Sounds like a good machine. any pics?, see if it has the adjustable chute or the 45" feedtray (stock is 35") make sure that it is actually a W. I would offer about 9,000 and settle at 11,000-11,500 if its clean. it will have no problem chipping brush, be easy to tow and stop!

Lombardini has been around for a long time. i used them on portable light plants in mines back in the early 80's. They were noisy, but would run nearly forever it seemed. Very easy on fuel use. I think this company specialized in med to low HP diesels.
It seems to me that I heard about Kohler, purchasing that company a couple of years ago.
I think they are a great engine, but service and parts may be hard to get, due to lack of many dealers.

I run a late 1980's 2 cylinder air cooled on my Vermeer stump grinder. Over 2,000 hours on the engine with very few problems. Because of its age parts have to come from Italy and it takes a while. Kohler has purchased the company so parts will be easier to get. The Engine you are looking at should be water cooled and is used a lot in the Marine and Construction industry the Distributor is in Georgia and parts should be no problem. The reason my parts are alway's special order is my engine was never sold in the USA, thus no parts are stocked here.
