Today I went and looked at a 90xp chipper. The owner knows nothing about it as he acquired it through a trade (or so he says).

It has a 3 cyl duetz diesel and the hour meter reads 115 hrs, which obviously must be a replacement (solely the gauge, not the engine itself), seeing it is on its second paint job.

I ran some wood through it and it seemed to perform pretty well though there was a bunch of debris stuck in the space between the feed wheels and the disk.

What do you guys think is the approximate value of this machine? It looks like it might be about 10 years old. Not too sure. I got the serial number and I am going to call Bandit with it tomorrow and see.

When did the XP models start coming out? The machine still says "Model 90" in some places and says 90xp on the chute.

Wow...thats a 90xp? are you sure? mine is a 1996, 90xp with a 4 cylinder gm gas marine engine, its way different than what you have pictured.

what youre showing almost looks like bandits version of vermeers 625, write down the serial number & call a bandit dealer to check!! that looks like a pretty clean machine, find out the year & verify make & model....check against other models on the internet to find out worth.

Good Luck.

I called Bandit with the serial number this morning and it looks to be a 99 90xp with a 45 horse deutz, which I am pretty stoked about because anything 50hp or above is subject to CARB regulations in CA.

I'm guessing it's worth anywhere between 5-7 grand. I'm just a little leery of not knowing how many hours are on it, though it looks like it has been maintained pretty well. Someone from San Deigo is driving up to look at it today. If he doesn't buy it, I will probably make an offer later in the week. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I really like the bandits I use at work, better than the vermeers we have, or the raycos.

It looks in pretty nice condition, I've never used one that small, only the 250s. Bandits are fairly simple in comparison to the push button raycos, etc... Can probably fix anything that breaks on there yourself. I'd check the compression of each cylinder just like I would a car or anything else that's an internal combustion engine. Good luck! Looks like you found something fairly decent.

 Now you can make more money and save up for a big Morbark!

Jeff

haha. I like keeping my biz small. Too many liabilities when you go big, though the big companies do make big money.

All I have got is an old f350 dump, this chipper, one consistent groundman, and about 8 or 9 saws. My total assets are probably around 12 grand. I work 2-3 days a week while I continue taking classes and studying for my masters. I typically go on about 7-10 estimates a week, which may not be much for most, but it all keeps me really busy. I am definitely thankful for what I have got, especially the chipper!

Next item on the list, however, is either a small truck such as a Ranger (it's crazy but my only vehicle right now is the dump truck! The Chevy pickup I had died a couple months back) or a stump grinder (found an alpine magnum for 2500). An engagement ring is coming soon too:)

Sounds like you have a tight little operation going. Those are the kinds that work great because of the low overhead.
