i had looked the place over and was leavin.. looked back and there was a little mini row ,,several people had put
in between rows out side. yep theys some saws there. so they got an 271 cutoff saw,,a 350 husq. used hard an didnt sound too good. put it dn an there settin rite in front of me is this simple 026... real clean ,,, dont sound so great tho... yep got it at a good price,, after i put some oil in to make sure its oiling.
couldnt figure why a saw that looked like that didnt sound any better. but i take it home.
chain is safty with rakers never touched,,another wood scratcher..
clean the filter ,put one o my good chains on,poured whatever it was he had in there out,,an presto,,iaint even sure im gonna open the muffler up. its a cuttin fool.. brian i see why u liked yours before they messed with the carbs.
i didnt realize they were this lite. kinda wish id bought the 350 to.gas looklike it mite be 3yrs old.
well brag brag brag ,,sorry to put u thru it boys ,,but u know christmas dont come ever day..

Hey Tony, That`s great!

The 026 is a pretty good little saw, it`ll take alot of hard use to kill it. I`d take a hard look at the impulse line and fuel line before I used it too much, clean all of the built up crud off it, and you know the rest. Adjust the carb so that it blubbers alittle at WOT out of the cut. Good luck with your "Christmas" gift.

Hi Tony, the 026 was a good find, it can be outfitted with 3/8 just fine and loves a 13" bar. When you show up at a woodtick boogie, they will laugh at you till you crank it up. It will embarrass all other saws owned by those with a Paul Bunyan complex.

yea theys a few things ill be doing..
im no mechanic and im alway hesitant to fool with something that seems to me about perfect,,also a little surprised ,,as it dont turn out this way,, near enough .. but u know me by now.. ill probably do all the above and more.
dang thing would cut up with a short bar wouldnt it.
im just a little kid with a good chain saw.. but yall knew that.
yall have a great ,,safe christmas.
thanks tm.:)

well . wish u would tell my kid that. just ,,shes 15 and proud o every minute.
have a good christmas bud to all u family.

Hey tony, you had a great day at the flea market! My 026 is a tough little Stihl and I think you'll get a lot of use out of your saw.

Happy Holidays all,
Rick

Don't you just love those finds?
Good eye for spotting it, and having the patience to go down that last row.
You will love your 026.

The MS260 can be made to work just like the old 026 if you go back to the old carb style and take out the spark screen.

well i decided to clean an open the muffler . things go great. then erics tach gets here. oh well lets start with thisun..
i had cut some with it rite before the mail man came. anyway im dumfounded
as even with earplugs it sure is loud and wanting to rev past 15.000.
im surprised as i hadnt fooled with the adjustments. so i adjust it back to 14.000 and just as i get it where i want it,,
there on the ground i spot the front of the muffler. i hadnt put loctite on the screws and they just came out. almost had a bad day. anyway everythings rite now. but ill have to readjust the carb again tommorow. its only funny cause i didnt blow my saw up.:) if it can happen,, it ll happen to me.. thanks for the use of the tach eric ,,its neat.
