My dad bought all the hardware for a Bellsaw M-14 at a farm auction. It was just a pile of parts and he outbid a scrap dealer for it. It cost $250 and he purchased lumber the build the frame/carriage and has probably ~$700 in it total. It is PTO driven and has worked very well so far. We will using it again shortly and I was wondering if anyone would like pictures or videos or has any experience with them. Thanks.

Here is my M14 project. Keep us informed on your progress. Is your stationary or portable? I plan on putting an axle under mine.
What are you powering yours with? Hope it is going well. Have a blessed evening.

Nice project Trever! If it wasnt for the scrap buyer he probably would have got it for $50, no one else knew what it was. I will get pictures up as soon as I can. Its stationary and we use a 65 hp Zetor to run it. It sits at the end of our pole barn and we will using it to cut lumber to extend the building over the mill. Dad found the installation manual online and thats how he got all the right dimensions. The blade will get new teeth this spring as well. When he was younger, he had a bigger circular mill with a stationary International engine that ran it. Wish I had pictures of that. I think it was Hurricane Hugo that collapsed the building and ruined it when I was little.

How about that? The circular mill that my great-uncle used to have ('My father needs a sawmill' thread) had a stationary International engine. How long did your father have that mill and do you know where he got it? I think it may have been the same engine as in a Farmall H. Don't think I know any more details about the mill.

I talked to my dad last night and asked him if he remembered more details on the old sawmill. He remembers it as being a Bellsaw with a 52 inch insert tooth blade is what he said. He says he thinks the engine was an International W-9, maybe equivalent to a Farmall M instead of an H. And when it was sold, it was going to somewhere in Missouri, from northwestern Illinois. I forgot to ask just what year that was. Early 1980s, I think.

Neat. I wish I knew more about the engine than that it was yellow haha. I know the mill wasn't a bellsaw. He put it together in the early 70s and used it to cut lumber for the dairy barn and many other buildings/projects. It was destroyed in the early 90s and he sold the useful parts around 2000

I had thought about powering mine with an old Farmall at first, but decided on a more useable and more powerful tractor. I am going with a 574, 674, 684, or 784 International. Those are hard to beat and easy to get parts for and work on. Hope your mill project goes good. Mine is on hold until I finish school in May.

How is the mill coming along? I am finally complete with my military school; on and off for a year. Now it's play time, Lord willing.
I have decided to leave mine wood and put an axle under it. I will use swivel jacks and concrete cap blocks to level it. Also, have a
Corley 21" junior that I will restock as well. Probably will look for a tractor this Fall.

I know you wish you could find that old mill. I have my eye on other mills around here as well. I missed a Frick 00 a few weeks ago that
came with a good 3-71 Detroit, Hermance 24" planer, Frick 3 blade edger. All working equipment. I know the new owners and will go and see
it sometime.

Have a blessed weekend.

Its working great. My dad used it to cut some planks to make tables for our family reunion. We do need to get new teeth soon though. Still have to get pictures up.

How long of track did you all go with?

I am thinking 24' on bearer's end and 22' on the off bearer's end for mine. I will use 2X10s doubled up.
