Here's a thread for the best advice that someone ever gave you. Of course, I use the phrase 'best advice' very loosely!

Here's mine.

I once was buying a bull rope, pulley, etc at the local arborist supply. We were purchasing a 150' of 3/4" Stable braid. Rated up to 20,400 lbs if I recall right. So Mr. Larry Heston (idiot extrodinaire and I use his real name so you can call the cops if you see him in your area), comes up and tells me. "Why you wasting your money? I use a climbing rope. It's much cheaper. Because of the shock absorbation I can drop bigger pieces of wood than you ever could."

Hmmm... Yeah. Did I mention he used to used to pull trees over with these ropes and he uses them to climb too? Unfortunately he has not killed himself yet.

Anyone heard some other sage advice?

My dad told me "look at the mother of the girl that you are dating because that will be her when she gets older" Welp..........in the case of my ex wife.........it was all true I learned the hard way :bang: :bang:

"My Husky 61 cuts as good as an 066 only not as loud."
"You realy don't need to know how to tie a boline to be a good climber."

I didn't listen but son, go to law school !

I should have listened to my dad when he told me to go to school and become a gynecologist!

All Jokes aside, the guy that taught me to climb always made me double tie in when operating a saw... When every one at the time was only belting in with a gut strap.

Best Advice: "Hey Tiger, take your tail with you." Learned alot from that man.

Worst Advice: "Sometimes it's not about safety, sometimes it's about taking a risk." Quit that dungheap the same day.

"Don't order the chicken chow-mein."

A month later they found over 30 skinned cats in the freezer ( the WK cafe about 1983), true story.

Cat is tastey but I believe in honesty in advertising.

"Go west young man" - and here I sit in the middle of one of the biggest puddles of oil in the world earning twice what I could in Ontario doing the same thing and working for a great company.

Another good one was, "Don't get into this business in a big way, there is no money in it just sweat and heartache".
