best cable for winch

i have a winch for my chipper and am currently using 5/16 amsteel my question, is steel cable better than a rope winch line??

nope

it seems that everybody is going to rope on their winches, this is for safety and ease of use. when it brakes it doesn't fly around like cable .when it frays it won't cut you up.
