I need to replace the chain on my Husqvarna 445 18" bar, what you recommend? OEM, Oregon or ???

My choice would be:

Clean wood: .325 Stihl RS/C or Oregon LGX/LPX(Husky has a number for a Husky branded chain made by Oregon but not sure of the number in .325)

Dirty wood: .325 Stihl RM/C

Note: Stihl has dropped the C in the RSC and RMC so its just RS and RM but some dealers still have some of the C and its the same chain.

My neighbor across the street has a 445 and it has a 18" X .325 X Narrow Kerf Husqvarna chain.

The bar is narrow too. Sometimes, a regular .325 will not clear the chain plates?

However, I had a 350 with a NK bar and it ran regular .325 chain OK.

LPX is H23 in .050, H21 in .058 - my favourite chain in .325, but I happily use RS/RSC as well. :msp_thumbup:

There is no LGX chain in .325.

I agree in preferring RM/RMC in semi chisel, but I very rarely use it anyway (except the H30/95VP(X) on the 339xp).

The OEM NK chain does well on the 445's.

I believe you, it isn't a very strong saw, even for a 45cc saw.

It is actually a decent running saw. If I knew the OP were cutting primarily softwoods I may recommend a chisel chain as it shouldn't be a problem, but as a general all around chain the 95vp/h30 is a good choice to cover it all.

My neighbor's 445 is a super nice home owner's saw.

I couldn't get over how great it cut. I sharpened the chain for him and noticed that it was all narrow kerf.

Welcome to A.S.!

Not sure if you caught it from the comments above, but Oregon makes the Husqvarna OEM chain, although they use different model numbers as TK notes, above. Should have the numbers 'H30' (Husqvarna) or '95' (Oregon) stamped on the drive links if it is .325 pitch, .050 gauge, narrow kerf chain.

Site sponsor Bailey's also carries a .325 narrow kerf chain made by Carlton (will have a different model number, but their sales staff can help you).
