So here's the deal I work for asplundh but I do weekend work and I've had a lot of people tell me I really need to get insurance so for how small a operation I got going any suggestions

The description of your option is entirely relevant. One guys "small operation" may be another guys "big operation" or vice versa. How much income do you project to claim/bring in yearly, how many people do you have working on a site on average?

Usually me and one other worker I just have climb gear and chainsaws no chippers or even trailers and I make anywher from 300$ to 600$ a month but there's starting to be more work availible as I'm getting my name out

If you have someone working for you, you should have a workmans comp policy covering the min, I think about 38K payroll. Depending on what your rates are where you are will determine your premium.
You should have a million dollar liability policy. Again, depending on your area, your rates will vary.
You have no equipment, so no need for one of those policies....
Also, I don't know the laws in your state, but in some it is in fact illegal to practice tree work without a license.
