I've bought a few things on Ebay, and I admit that I just watched for about 3 months before I bid enough to get anything. I also complain louder than anyone when I see some old clapped-out clunker going for twice what it's worth, especially when I only wanted it ( cheap) for some part.

Seems like everytime a part saw is up for sale it brings as much as a running one. Not had much luck on e-bay for getting parts.

Lots of stuff gets "sniped" on Ebay. Seems like when I try it I either just drive up the price for the guy who was already winning or I forget to bid and check after it is over to find that it went for .15 less than nothing.

I've heard there is software available for the purpose of placing bids on eBay within the last 1-15 seconds of an auction. I assumed this comic strip was playing on that.

You may already do this, but I find it helpful to search the completed auctions to see what similar items have been going for. You will find that an 066 for example will end within 50-100$ of every other 066 that has been on ebay... doing that will let you know (from an ebay perspective anyway) about what you are going to need to bid, and what is a high and low price for the item.

Here are a few I know people are using. I have one customer that all they do is buy and sell on ebay. If there is something you want this is the way to get it unless you have cable or dsl to the web. you also have to understand a seller could have 2 email address's and blitz you to see what your best bid is.ALWAYS CHECK THE BIDDING if you look many times you will see the person with the second highest bid is the winner after a few days. Don't pay right after the auction closes give it a few days to see the bidding. Is this likely with chain saws I don't know but it happens with computers parts alot.

Like always Happy bidding

Unless I'm looking for something specific, I don't both bidding these days. I just search throught the new Buy It Nows a few times each day.

One trick is to use broad searches. Some people who don't know much will list things with all sorts of titles. "Old saw" may turn out to be an 090 some guy found in his garage.

I've bought and sold quite a few saws and parts on Ebay. Its almost impossible to get the things you want because people usually sandbag the bid with those programs.
