In my quest to get an inexpensive (<$250) double ended bar on the order of 6' I've not found one with the 12.3mm stihl mount. The guy on ebay that had them before is out. He does have husky mounts.
so questions:

Does anyone know of a source for double-ended 72" bars for about $250. Or less, or much less used.

I know there was a thread here about long bars, but all I've found were in the $350+ price range, except for:
I just ordered a 66" double-ender today, custom made locally form Chain Bar Repair for $250. Seams better than most of the prices mentioned here. I'll post pictures when I get it.

Granberg wants $350 for a 6' bar. Thechainsawguy doesn't seem to have any.

I'm not really looking for 40 responses on why I shouldn't try this, that I should get a 300cubic inch powerhead, or why I should start macrame, thank you. It's just another simple question I have.

I've got my two fairly well matched toys (660's) and want to try them out.
I realize I'll have to rig up tachs, throttle cables, etc.

thanks in advance.

The bar I'm using on my 066 has the big stihl mount. Its the one that comes with the 48 inch complete granberg mill. It came with spacers for the husky and the smaller stihl mount(660).

I don't have a clue where to tell you to get a bar but You could get a Large mount stihl bar and get or make some spacers. Let me know if you find one.

Unless you are talking a super special runout I doubt you will see a new one at $250.

You don't need either. Unless you go for a wheeled or rail mill you will need two people so you just start both saws and then go for it.

Adapters are available and are alsoe easy to make in you have access to or know someone with a lathe. I turned mine out of a large tensile bolt. The other common method is using a 14 mm OD x 1 mm thick spring.

And I should have written double-ended Stihl bars.
There's a guy on ebay selling "NEW 72" Chainsaw bar fits Husqvarna Jonsered Chain Saw" for $240+$21sh, and he had handled some large Stihl bars but doesn't have any left.

But the Husky mount is probably 9mm, and I need 12.3.

I'll put it in my sig.

What about, if the chain tension and oiler holes line up, getting a Husky-Jred bar and then grinding the bar slot out?
