They do this from time to time. Especially when there is a work related accident.. The best is when they do it to the illegal roofers around here.

Nothing like 10K in fines to put a cheat out of business!!

Saw an all Amish construction crew yesterday and they all had bright yellow hard hats. Made me do a triple-take. I'm guessing there's something to what the OP said because given the choice between dealing with OSHA or an eternity in hell for not wearing the prescribed Amish headgear, they choose the later

It's happened here

A couple years ago they came around and started harassing the construction guys. It was not a laughing matter. Heard of many 10-30k fines. Most got dismissed. If u put a no tresspassing sign on ur jobs when u show up I don't think they can inspect your job site.
