i got the new sherrill catalog flipping thru the pages i see these high balls for the big shot they come in 10,12,14,16 oz. They look just like golf balls and if any of you guys are like our guys every golf ball we find we launch in the big shot (in the right spot of course)and man do those suckers fly lol well anyways i was wondering if anybody has tried them out let me kno what you think and what weight are you using i was wanting to get a opinion before i buy a few.

I have not use the Highball but have launched golf balls any a time. I think I will try them at some point but when I need to order some new throw weights. I like the business model "use what you got and use it till it's used up".

I haven't tried them but I have shot just about all else through a big shot , rocks , nuts and bolts walnuts are a favorite and golf balls when we find some surely get launched

they should fly pretty good.

I know I can shoot a black walnut until I can't see it anymore.

I like shooting large Hickory nuts with mine... Makes a big noise when you hit your neighbors tin roof... :hmm3grin2orange:

If those things have as much bounce as they look like they do...IDK....they will ricochet like crazy. I just picture ,when ur shot is slightly off and hits tree and flies off in God knows what direction. Its just gonna make it worse if those things are real bouncy. I like that idea of golf ball with a small eye hook..except I would only use it under very safe conditions. It could ricochet to who knows where and hurt somthin.

Yup, like maybe the person holding the Bigshot !

Shooting golfballs with Bigshot...... Has anybody taken one to a driving range ? Better yet.... we should try a round of golf with only the bigshot and a putter.

lol ya the walnuts fly good i think i will order one just for ####s and giggles see how it works i think it will fly pretty good until it hits the ground right where my groundie is off guard:confused: and hit him square in the gonads :hmm3grin2orange: lol

This week, weather permitting, I have a box elder to take out at our local golf course, I will ask the super (who is a helluva guy!) if I can shoot it at the driving range, will get pics!

I am curious about these also. Just put replacement bands on my Big Shot and I'm not crazy about the new pouch. Had a couple of flubbed shots where it seemed like the traditional-style throwball came out of the new, more open pouch before the shot was completed. Maybe a more rounded style would stay in there better? Probably just need to get used to it. Most of the shots were fine. Dont want to change if ricochet is going to be a lot worse.

Is a golf ball heavy enough to pull the thrown line through a rough fork in the tree?

Regarding the new throw weights: Weren't rubber balls the 'standard' several years ago, then the new bags came out as the must have/better than a ball? Now the balls are so much better than bags???

turtle 200+yrds

someone i work with launched a small turtle well over 200yrds with a big shot, everyone laughed ,think the turtle even cracked a smile:hmm3grin2orange:

The new style pouch doesn't work well with the old style (wider) yoke. If you have the wider yoke you're probably better off to buy a whole new head. That said, I always had better luck with the old style pouch.

Yeah, but you pretty much have to be careful of everythng in this business...every shot does not have to be full draw...:eek:uttahere2:

I don't have a big shot...mostly because I have not needed one..I make my own throw bags...five minutes at the sewing machine..ten bucks saved, easy..and they come out of one of those tennis ball slingshots pretty good...but then, I am not working in hundred foot trees where the branches start at seventy five...

That is actually a funny idea God help the next painter I find that fits into that pouch ... He better have on flying goggles

When I get the Big Shot out my Labrador goes nuts as this is the Holy Grail of throw toy launchers. I can shoot her Kong toy halfway into the next county. Unfortunately she cant tell the difference between the throw weight and her toys and goes berserk when I shoot the darn thing into the tree with a string on it. Its pretty funny but its hell on the the throw line payout with a dog tangled in the line.
